We promise. We deliver.
You succeed.

Every student at The Academy will receive an inspiring, educational and stimulating package during their time with us. Our approach is nurturing, structured and encourages students to challenge themselves.

We keep our promise that all students that attend The Academy will emerge more confident, more capable and more motivated than before.

We make it our ultimate aim to provide the following promises to you and your child:

Your child will be ahead of the curve

Planned and crafted to perfection, our lessons are delivered by highly qualified and experienced tutors who have an expert grasp of the curriculum and their specialist subjects.

So many pupils come to us struggling with confidence in core subjects.

  • We maintain methodologies in our teaching approach that reflects their familiar school environment.

  • Tutors with specialisms facilitate lessons throughout the year. For example, an Astrophysicist will deliver lessons on GCSE space Physics modules. A Microbiologist will teach sections of the Biology syllabus.

  • We are not driven by a strict timeline or a checklist of termly topics. We take our time, break topics down into more understandable concepts, and we test students each step of the way, using our ‘Teach-Test-Review’ methodology.

We create independent and critical thinkers

This skill of learning through exploration will be fully developed in your child. They will own their own learning.

In every lesson, our teachers encourage their students to have an enquiring mind, to question things, to seek explanation. Experiential learning and discussion is highly valued in our classrooms, and students will learn that their opinions matter.

  • In an English lesson, pupils will debate and discuss ideas of persuasive argument in writing, as well as be able to form opinions on the writer’s craft and expression.

  • Science lessons may involve pupils sharing their knowledge of how scientific methods and theories have changed throughout time. They will learn to develop ethical arguments about the rights and wrongs of new technology in line with the national exam syllabus.

Tailored support. Before, during and after.

No matter what support your child requires, it will be provided regularly, professionally and in a flexible and tailored manner for each individual’s needs.

Even when students are away from the classroom, our teachers are always working to provide extended learning experiences for your child. We have a wide range of support materials such as homework, revision packs, practice examination tasks, and online support. We adhere to the belief that our support should always be available for your child whenever they need it!

Our lessons equip students for life-long resilience

Our lessons are embedded with the principles of Growth Mindset. We are able to help your child prepare not only for the challenge of examinations and academic tasks, but we ensure that they learn to build their own inner resilience.

  • We ensure pupils can learn from each other, so we encourage them to work together. They will learn to utilise each other’s skills and to be able to see their own success within themselves, and within their team. Their leadership and interpersonal skills will flourish as a result. Interactive lessons that encourage sharing and learning together will enhance this.

  • Our goal is to ensure that when our students meet difficult situations, both in learning or life, they will feel more prepared to face them. They will be able to think positively about their talents and skills, and will see every hurdle as an opportunity for learning.

They will become independent learners.

Once they set foot in our classrooms, your child will be inspired to begin focusing on their studies. They will develop a strong vision towards attainment, and our teachers will not only help them work towards this, but will teach them that it is through their own dedication and hard work that they will achieve it.

  • Our reporting and homework system ensures that they work towards deadlines more efficiently and that they will be accountable for their own progress. We believe that this approach will help them become hard working, goal-oriented individuals.

  • TAQTs are used regularly and positively as a way to encourage revision of material. They will see for themselves that when they prepare, anything is achievable!

Regular, relevant updates for you.

It can be fast-paced and difficult for parents to keep up with curriculum advances, so our teachers take all the worry away from you with our regular, focused monthly reports on how your child is progressing.

  • Homework is marked, and feedback is always detailed and helpful. You and your child will know exactly what their weekly focus will be, allowing them to reflect on their learning and see clearly where their areas of improvement should be.

  • Parents will always be kept informed and updated as this progresses.

  • Every student who has come through the doors of The Academy has shown academic improvement and has emerged a more confident and capable learner.

Your child will be safe and happy to attend our classes.

Our teachers work incredibly hard to ensure that they are able to focus specifically on what your child needs, and to nurture and improve their approach to learning. If they fully engage, attend regularly and follow our advice, there is no doubt that they will be able to improve their academic scores in a safe and welcoming environment.

  • Every staff member at The Academy has been fully DBS checked.

  • We undertake regular Child Protection and Safeguarding training and all students are aware of having a safe and trusted person to talk to.

  • Our past statistics show that the students who have succeeded the most have been the ones who have fully engaged in all aspects of our programme; they have taken feedback positively, interacted fully in lessons and worked hard at every homework or lesson task set to them.
